December 2006. Gorilla Theatre Berzerk. With Alamo Basement.
For its next show, Alamo Basement is exploring an underrated aspect of the writers' craft: primary impulse. All of the short plays presented in "Gorilla Theater: Berzerk!" will be written in exactly TEN MINUTES. This limiting time frame won't allow writers to second guess themselves; their initial ideas will end up on the page, and the actors will perform the scripts precisely as written. Heck, we'll even deliver lines with uncorrected typos.
For this amazing show, Alamo Basement has assembled an incredible team of over 20 writers from Milwaukee and Chicago. Among the fringe theater all-stars already confirmed are Alamo regulars Mike Q. Hanlon and Tony Brandl, acclaimed Milwaukee playwright John Manno, Ben Turk of Insurgent Theatre, members of comedy troupe The Gentlemen's Hour, and several more playwrights, poets, comedians, filmmakers, and high school English teachers.
As an added bonus, two more plays will be written ON STAGE at the beginning of the show (in ten minutes), and then performed at the end of the evening.
