A daring, innovative experiment in theatre with strange, arbitrary limitations and severe time constraints.
After the show we'll raffle off prizes, and "At Your Request Entertainment" will bust out the Kareoke machine so you can be a little singing corpse yourself!
Prizes donated by Anona's, Lakefront Brewery, Off the Wall Theatre, Chamber Theatre, Alchemist Theatre and Lounge, A-Hem Clothing, Luv Unlimited, and more!
More about the show: It's a series of short plays, written by a handful of writers, one a night each, over the course of a week. The last line (and only the last line) of the first writer's play is passed on to the second writer and becomes the first line of the next writer's play. The second writer then writes an unrelated play starting with that line, passing on their last line to the third writer, and so on.
In other words, it's a series of plays strung together in the style of the surrealist "Exquisite Corpse" drawings, which bears a passing resemblance to the "relay style" that Play in a Day is written in, but without the collaboration and contunity between writers, and with less of the energizing time limitation pressure.
The production of the plays will be in 24 hours. On Friday April 4th, a cast and crew will be assembled, drawing heavily from this year's Play in a Day personnel and on Saturday April 5th, the plays will be produced by this team.
As an added bonus, the lyricists and musicians from Play in a Day will be writing songs for a couple of these plays in 24 hours time.
Yes, you guessed it, this show is a kind of boot camp and promotional / fundraising effort for Play in a Day 3: The Musical. Come get a small taste of what that huge extravaganza will be.
