KING LEAR
5 Company Promenade Desert Theatre King Lear at Bedlam Theatre was a fucking blast! Amazing companies invovled in the show, wonderful people, and mind blowing work. Everyone who cares about the future of theatre needs to give their money and support and great love to the Bedlam Theatre.
Pics and videos coming soon? I hope so.
Ben's blogpost about the show (and the Kushner play)
Last September, The Missoula Oblongata and Puppet Uprising organized a show where 5 companies (The Oblongata, The Uprising, Bedlam, The Nonsense Company and TruthEaterTheatre) each performed a reinterpretation of one act of King Lear and served one desert to the audience. They want to repeat the feat this June in Minneapolis.
But, Missoula Oblongata are unable to participate, so Insurgent Theatre has been invited to take their place. We are honored and excited to be invited to this show, working with some of what i consider the most interesting theatre companies in the country.
Our rehearsals of King Lear have begun. The approach we're taking must remain secret. We haven't yet decided wether or not we're going to attempt a local performance of our portion of this show, not sure where we'd do it, or who we'd do it with (as our act 5 should be about 20 minutes long).
Anyway, the cast/workshop group is assembled, and includes: David Bohn, Deborah Clifton, Tracy Doyle, Jeff Grygny, Matt Richardson, Tim Shafer, Ben Turk, Monika Walburgh, Peter J Woods.
